Who is the Viva Connections integration for?

adenin’s Viva Connections connector is a popular choice for Customer Service, Finance & Accounting and Human Resources teams at small to large organizations. The data sources that are built into Microsoft Excel (see above) are incredibly simple to integrate into Viva Connections and don't require any technical know-how. The adenin platform completely handles authenticating with Microsoft Excel and then loads your data into an Adaptive Card layout that, in turn, will be embedded into Viva Connections.

Do I have to be a developer to use the Viva Connections integration with Microsoft Excel?

No, the integration is designed to help busy managers stay on top of their various workplace applications, where Microsoft Excel is just one of many examples (see others). As such, we designed many tools that reduce the amount of coding expected of users: Starting with the Microsoft Excel integration, which you can set up yourself in just a few, completely code-free, steps (see instructions).

Then with the built-in Card designer we automatically generate a layout from your Microsoft Excel data. You could tweak this further in the low-code designer, either yourself if you have some HTML-related skills, or with a little help from us – just reach out to one of the team.

How does adenin ensure my Microsoft Excel data is safely delivered to Viva Connections?

We use the secure OAuth standard which means you authorize adenin accessing your Microsoft Excel data and in turn authorize us to share this data with Viva Connections. Both of these authorizations can be revoked by you at any point through the Linked accounts menu (requires user account). No data is ever stored on adenin servers, instead it is directly sent to the client (in this case Viva Connections) who will treat it in accordance with their privacy policy. Install Microsoft Excel integration for Viva Connections

With adenin you can easily integrate any business app into Viva Connections

  1. Click the Add button below. This will open the Microsoft Excel template in Zapier, a free service that sends Cards from over 5000+ apps to adenin.

  2. In Zapier, select your Microsoft Excel data source and authenticate with the app.

  3. Then map the values to the Adaptive Card maker step of your Zap. As a title enter something like My Microsoft Excel card as this is how it will appear on your dashboard.

  4. Once your Zap is up and running, a Card with your Microsoft Excel data will automatically appear on your personal dashboard. Everytime your Microsoft Excel trigger fires in the future, this will add a new entry to that card.

To begin, add the adenin’s Viva Connections integration to your Viva Connections account.

  1. Click the Install now button above to add the Card maker for Viva Connections extension to your Sharepoint page

  2. During the installation, select to Enable this app and add it to all sites, then press Add

  3. After the installation you will be asked to "Approve access so this app works as designed" which you should follow by clicking on Go to API Access Page

  4. There select Microsoft Graph for the correct package and then press Approve. Our Viva app is now correctly installed and ready to go.

  5. Now go to your Dashboard, usually located at <your-sharepoint-domain>/SitePages/Dashboard.aspx, and add a new Card maker for Viva Connections Card

  6. Then select the icon and select Embed an existing Card

  7. Now copy your Card Share URL and paste it in the Viva Card

  8. Optionally, you can edit your Card's Quick or Card View by clicking Edit in Designer or Edit the Quick View
